Why Detox Diets Are Not Healthy
Most people don’t understand what their body is trying to tell them when it detoxes.
In fact, most people don’t really understand when their body is detoxing and when it isn’t. They also don’t understand the process of what the body is trying to achieve.
As soon as the body feels healthier in any way, it will begin to detox in some way and here is why…
Your Body is Like an Episode of ‘Hoarders’
When we don’t (or are unable) look after ourselves properly and we come into contact with heavy metals, chemicals and toxins, or we take drugs (medical or recreational) our body stores the rubbish left behind because it is more in survival mode. It is trying to function in less than optimal circumstances.
If you think about the program ‘Hoarders’, you can imagine what it is like for the body. It is stuffing the crap it can’t deal with into nooks and crannies everywhere and trying to function around it.
As soon as changes happen to our health - ie we get more sleep, we start eating better, we start taking vitamins, we start a new diet, we begin fasting, we take a good remedy - our body does a happy dance and starts getting rid of the crap that has built up inside organs and cells.
Unfortunately, if we detox too suddenly (ie go on a detox regime) or without support, then what happens is a whole load of crap is dumped into our bloodstream and lymph, and it ends up making us sick. That is why so many people get flu-like symptoms or vomitting and diarrhoea with a detox program. Our bodies become overwhelmed and start furiously trying to try to cope with the overflow. Think of it as pulling all of the hoarding rubbish at once from the house on to the street. If it’s done all at once, it would block the roads and footpaths making it impossible for people to get in and out. If it is done a trailer-load at a time, then it would not affect the workings of the neighbourhood.
If our ‘elimination channels’ are not working properly then we can’t detox effectively. The biggest elimination system we have is our digestive system, but sweat glands and skin pores, our bladder, saliva, snot, ear wax and even our uterus (periods) are places we detox from. Anywhere things come out of the body is a channel to push things out. If these are blocked (ie the front door and windows are not working properly) then the crap can’t come out and ends up being reabsorbed somewhere you don’t want it to be.
Once the body has removed the crap, then it can go about healing itself. In “Hoarders’ this would be fixing the walls, repainting and recarpeting, sorting the roof and fixing the plumbing and electricity. In the body, it’s repairing its cells and tissues including old injuries and bacterias and fungus that have built up. It can often mean mental/emotional symptoms as well such as old grief or shocks or traumas. We detox from our past as well as our physical body.
If you are looking to do a detox, first get your elimination channels working effectively, then detox in a supervised or gentle way. There are many ways to support the body while detoxing, but it is quite hard to do this alone.
One of the reasons for this is the blood-brain barrier. Some toxins and chemicals such as mercury and aluminium cross the body’s barrier to protect the brain. When these are being detoxed it is important that the right support is used to get those toxins into the elimination pathways and not into other organs in the body.
Homeopathic Detox is an incredibly effective way to remove any kind of toxin, medication, chemical, heavy metal, radiation and bacteria and fungus from your body. It is gentle, and because you are working with a homeopath, it is a supported and safe way to rid yourself of these issues once and for all.
