Homeopathy for Insect Bites

Summer is here!

And with it comes the inevitable presence of pesky insects. Whether it's a mosquito, a bee, or even ants, insect bites are an uncomfortable nuisance that can leave us scratching and irritated. But did you know that homeopathy offers natural remedies to soothe the itching, reduce swelling, and promote faster healing?

Here are a few homeopathic remedies that can provide relief from insect bites:

Apis Mellifica – A bee sting or other insect bites causing intense burning, stinging, and swelling? Apis is one of the most common remedies. It works wonders for bites that feel hot and swollen with sharp, stinging pain. Think of it as the go-to remedy for those painful, swollen areas. This is my fave when I get a mossie bite that won't stop itching!

Ledum Palustre – If you’ve been bitten by a mosquito or have experienced a puncture wound, Ledum is an excellent choice. It’s known for reducing swelling and helping with the bruising and pain that often follows insect bites.

Calendula – Calendula is perfect for treating the skin post-bite. Its soothing properties can reduce inflammation and promote faster healing of the affected area. If you’re dealing with open sores or blisters after a bite, Calendula is your natural ally.

Hypericum - The 'Arnica of the Nerves' is a great 'puncture wound' remedy (which is what insect bites are after all). It helps soothe itching and speed up healing while helping keep infection at bay.

Arnica - Yup, there is my bestie yet again. Arnica is one of the remedies for insect bites and puncture wounds, so if you only have a couple of remedies to hand (and I'm hoping one of them will always be Arnica!) then you can take this in place of anything more specific.

One pillule every half an hour for up to 6 doses is a good general instruction for insect bites - if the itching/pain/swelling is relieved in this time you can keep repeating the doses as the symptoms return. If it hasn’t helped, have another look and try another!

And if you get stuck, remember to jump on to the Homeopathy at Home Facebook group to ask for more help.
