My Best Buddy - Arnica

Keeping Your Body Moving

Getting back to your gym or favourite sport after illness or having a break can be quite painful. It’s also harder to recover as we age. The good news is if you take Arnica immediately after working your body, the recovery is much gentler. You may not even feel sore at all.

The same goes if you’re doing more intense training, or getting into shape after winter.

Or, it might not be a workout. It could be you’ve gone out for a random night of dancing, or gotten back into the garden in Spring. Even moving house or putting up the tent in summer - Arnica can help your muscles and tissues to repair quickly, lessening dramatically any aches, pains and discomforts.

These days, I have to be careful of potential injuries. It takes me longer to recover from a hard workout. Now, I take Arnica immediately after any activity I think I could be sore from. The few times I have forgotten, I’ve known about it the next day! It is keeping me limber and able to do the things I want to do.

If you have some remedies, you’ll no doubt already have Arnica. It’s often the first remedy we find out about, and the one we don’t leave the house without. With it’s ability to soothe and heal, it is such a fantastic Buddy to have by your side.

Everyone should have Arnica in the home.

It is the most simple, most easy remedy to use.

You see, Arnica supports the repair of tissue damage. Since that everything physical about us is made up of tissue - blood, bone, veins, capillaries, organs, skin, nails, muscles, tendons and ligaments - then Arnica is for everyone.

So, what can we use it for?

  • Bumps and bruising (including head bangs, shins, funny bones, and stepping on sharp stones, whacking your head into the cupboard and poking yourself in the eye with the mascara).

  • Cuts and scrapes - to help stop the bleeding and start the scab forming.

  • Blood noses - whether you get them often or only when you bang your nose really hard, or you've got a kid that loves to pick his nose, it's the first remedy to help stop the blood flow.

  • Banged eyes and knees

  • Burns

  • Muscle repair and Post Workout Recovery -

  • Healing after tattoos or piercings

  • After Surgery or Dentistry

  • Strains and sprains

When I was a kid, I was a tomboy. There was never a time that I didn't have scabby knees and elbows from falling off my bike or skateboard.

I also smashed my nose several times back then, and ever since I have been prone to blood noses (epistaxis).

Back in the 80s, the trick with blood noses was to lie back, pinch your nose and hold tissue under it until it clotted. Then, in the 90s it was decided you shouldn't lie back but stand up and pinch the cartilage of your nose.

The problem is, once the blood has clotted, you have a blocked nose. And if you try blow it clear? The clot moves and it starts bleeding all over again! Sometimes, I could have two or three blood noses a day just from the clot moving, especially if I had bumped it hard.

Do you know how many hours of my life I lost waiting for my nose to stop bleeding?

My life changed when I discovered Arnica. Now, I have a couple of doses of Arnica. And get on with my life!

Parents Need Arnica

You know the silence that precedes the high pitched wail from a kid playing? That’s the time to grab the Arnica. You have about 5 seconds before it will be announced someone has been hurt.

In my home, I have two boys and I am clumsy. We get through stacks of Arnica. They love to tackle and rumble and play sports, and someone is always getting accidentally hurt (often me!).

Once, my toddler fell into the corner of a coffee table. He had a dent in his little head! I immediately gave him Arnica, following with a couple more doses around 5 minutes apart. I watched as the dent popped back out. The next day, he had a small green/yellow bruise where there should have been a huge black and blue egg-shape. I was so grateful to have been able to ease his pain and discomfort so quickly, and so very easily.
