Intestinal Worms, Parasites, and Homeopathic Cina

It’s not something we like to think about - what freeloaders we could be carrying in our gut - but it’s a fact. Parasites are everywhere, including inside us. Most of us will have a burden of some kind if we have not focused on getting rid of them.

You can just about guarantee if you have kids and/or pets at home, you will have some kind of parasite burden.

It does pay to worm your animals and your children regularly.  Unfortunately, the worming tablets from the pharmacy contain very strong chemicals, and often don’t kill the eggs.

Parasites steal our nutrients including our iron stores, causing anaemia along with other nutritional deficiencies.

So, what can we do to help de-worm our children naturally?

Keeping the gut healthy by using pre-biotics, fermented foods, ginger and garlic, and by reducing consumption of sugar, gluten and alcohol are all ways you support your gut and microbiome to be happy.

Homeopathy also has a secret weapon for getting rid of unwanteds….

Introducing...CINA!

We have a general remedy that is to worms like Arnica is to bruises. That remedy is Cina.

A 30c of this remedy daily for 1-3 days over the full moon period can help support your body to rid itself of worms.

The best time of the month to give Cina is around the full moon as intestinal worms love to breed at this time.

If you haven’t wormed recently or have a child with some of these symptoms, try a few doses of Cina over a few days and see if the behaviour improves. They may have a small tummy ache and then pass a stool with worms.

It’s easy to spot who had a worm burden after giving Cina – they will have an internal glow up and be visibly more energetic.

Cina for Animals

Don’t forget, you can give it to your pets too! In fact, if you are giving Cina over the full moon to children, pop a pilule or two in your pet’s water to relieve them of any load they could be carrying.

We tend to pass the burden around amongst ourselves so dosing the whole family (including fur babies) at the same time where possible is a good way to keep the family parasite-free.

Here are a couple of good Cina cases from my archives…

CASE 1

Here is a typical case of worms in a young boy who had recently been ill. Usually when he was unwell, he would throw a huge fever, go to bed and wake up a box of fluffies. However, this time the illness was dragging out, and he was very lethargic.

He had been unusually irritable, especially with his sister. After he complained of an itchy bottom, Mum discovered that he had worms. She dosed him with worming medication, and after it failed to act she phoned me.

After just one morning of dosing with Cina, she phoned back to report he had expelled a great deal of worms!

CASE 2

My dog Max came from a rescue shelter when he was only 9 weeks old. We fell in love with him instantly, but noticed he was very lethargic and bloated. This didn’t seem like normal behaviour from a puppy, let alone a Foxy crossed with a Jack Russell! He should have been bouncing off the walls.

Suspecting something was up, I gave him Cina 30C, one dose. That night, the rumbles and gurgles coming from his tiny stomach all night were so loud, I wondered if he would still be alive in the morning!

The next day he expelled two massive worms, 20cm in length. Shocked (and let’s face, it, grossed out!) I repeated the dose and the same thing happened - terrible rumbles all night.

In the morning he had expelled one huge worm – at least a metre long!

Needless to say he was a completely different puppy after that – dashing about, chewing up jandals and chasing his tail happily.

After speaking with the shelter, I learned that the puppies had been wormed, but the tablets had not taken effect. His entire digestive system was so filled with worms, I believe he would not have lived had he not had Cina.

He is now 9 years old, still our absolute treasure, and I still worm him with Cina regularly to keep it that way.

Rid yourself of those Freeloaders!

No one wants a freeloader! And these particular ones can cause a whole lot of damage to the sanctuary of your inner body.

More and more research is appearing on the absolute importance of digestive wellbeing to our overall health and longevity.

I believe natural worming is an important part of that process, and that makes Cina an important remedy to have in the home.

Intestinal Health

If the digestive system is working and eliminating properly, if the microbiome is balanced and the body has all it needs, then it will not be a good host for parasites and worms.

Unfortunately, life tends to be stressful, food isn’t what it used to be, and chemicals and heavy metals pollute our environment. These things all mess with our intestinal flora, making us more susceptible to intruders.

Medications - especially antibiotics, wipe out our good gut guys and make us more susceptible to candida overgrowth. Candida and heavy metals in the body create a wonderful haven for parasites to breed.

Health issues caused by parasites and worms can be:

  • Vitamin deficiencies - Vitamin A and Bs are consumed by parasites

  • Mineral Deficiency - have a stubborn case of anaemia? You could have parasites gobbling up your iron, calcium and magnesium

  • Fatigue - lets face it, no matter how well you’re eating your cells are getting starved if something else is consuming your food! This results in exhaustion and weariness.

  • Long term, parasites can damage organs such as the liver, bile ducts, digestive system, and even cross over into the brain!

  • Heavy metal toxicity - blocked elimination pathways mean the body can’t eliminate heavy metals and chemicals, and these start to build up in the tissues.

What to Look For....

Here are some obvious symptoms to look for if your child has worms:

  • Grinding teeth

  • Itchy anus

  • Picking their nose…a lot!

  • Hungry soon after eating, or sore tummies before meals

  • White, popcorn like mucus in the stools

  • Irritable and cross. Children demanding different things but then rejecting things when offered to them (worse than Chamomilla!)

  • Lethargic and tiring easily

  • Clinginess

  • Temper tantrums and a desire to lash out.

Will it work for me?

As with all remedies, it won’t work for everyone. But I have 13 years of feedback about worm burdens and Cina, so I can confidently say it works for the majority. If it doesn’t, it usually means something more constitutional is going on and underlying issues need to be dealt with.
