5 Tips For Skin Conditions and Eczema
I have been seeing a heap of skin issues lately. Most of my cases right now are skin conditions, namely eczema.
Skin complaints are not usually a quick fix due to the fact that the cause starts deep within the body and can be due to a multitude of underlying issues. If there is a problem, the skin is the least important organ according to the body (not to us!) and the body will push anything it doesn’t want out as far as it can - to the skin.
Here are some basic non-homeopathic tips I have gathered over the years:
Avoid tomatoes - as part of the nightshade family they are acidic and aggravating to skin conditions. This means tomato sauce as well sorry guys!
Dairy, gluten and sugar are usually components. These foods are the top three instigators for many complaints, so reducing these will help your body’s overall upset state.
A very good probiotic is key. Skin usually has a big gut component and so helping your precious waste removal system to work properly is essential. When it doesn’t, all sorts of problems emerge and the body gets very unhappy.
A topical cream that creates a barrier is important. With true conditions, a cream won’t solve the problem. The job of the skin is to keep the internal stuff in, and outside stuff out. When it is struggling, then applying a product that will help act as that barrier means less infection, more hydration, and more ability for the skin to heal underneath (a bit like a plaster). My favourite creams usually contain beeswax and Kawakawa and other soothing elements.
Tumeric is great for skin infections. Natures antibiotic, it helps with repeated skin infections. A good raw product is best and works most effectively, but your spice from the cupboard will also be helpful. The challenge is often getting it into the body. If you can’t get it into smoothies or drinks, try sprinkling over a cooked meal (don’t cook it in the meal as it loses some of it’s properties).
When looking at a skin case, I look at the bowel, the liver, what the skin is doing, family history, foods and what makes it worse and better (ie heat) as part of a whole case.
