The Three Top Remedies for Daylight Savings Hangovers

Symptoms of Daylight Savings Hangovers are loss of sleep, dopey or dizzy feelings, weakness and tiredness. The stress on our bodies can also result in colds and flus as our body’s struggle to cope.

The three top remedies for Daylight Savings (which can also be used for Jet Lag and Shift Work) are Cocculus, Gelsemium and Arnica.

Cocculus is also the first remedy for travel sickness. It gets a bit woozy and dizzy from both and possibly nauseous.

Gelsemium’s legs feel like jelly, and they feel tired and heavy. These are the same symptoms for colds and flus that are helped by this remedy. Gelsemium will just have a wave of tiredness come over them - often around mid-morning.

Arnica - Just another way it helps us at home! Arnica is a blood balancer and a tissue healer, so helps in so many different ways. But with Daylight Savings, it helps lift the shock off the body. Every time you're surprised by the difference in the time you get a wee shock. You may not have even thought about the effect Daylight Savings is having on you, so you will be thinking you’re ok (a big sign of Arnica shock).

I find that a combo of these remedies works really well for me. A dose before bed on the evening it is due to change, followed by a dose in the morning then one again at night. This is called a ‘split dose’ and should really help support your body and mind through the change to your system.

It’s here again to wreck havoc with your body clock! Any time change we experience messes with what is known as our Circadian Rhythm (or our internal body clock). This is what wakes us up in the morning, and tells us it’s time to go to sleep at night. It gets very confused by things like jet lag, shift work and of course, Daylight Savings.

And as we are heading into winter, we will suddenly find next week that we have run out of day!
